A RESOLUTION
Stating the Intent of the City Council
to Abate a Portion of Its 1991 General Fund Tax Levy
if Additional Income Tax Surcharge Revenues Become Available
• j WHEREAS, in 1989 Illinois State Senate Bill 1069 was
!adopted and enacted into law which temporarily raised the
;personal and corporate income tax rates by 20% and that the law
and higher rates are scheduled to expire on June 30, 1991; and
WHEREAS, the Illinois General Assembly in its current
1991 session is expected to consider the extension of the
'higher income tax rates; and
Now, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of
jthe City of Evanston, Cook County, Illinois:
Section I: If the State of Illinois should act to
extend the higher income tax rates beyond June 30, 1991 then it
is the intent of the Evanston City Council to utilize tax
surcharge revenues to be derived by the City from the higher
rates for the months of July, 1991 through February 1, 1992 for
the purpose of (reducing) abating the 1991 General Fund Tax
Levy by the amount of the additional revenues derived.
