A RESOLUTION
Authorizing Acquisition of Real Property for
the Construction of a Public Library
WHEREAS, the City council of the City of Evanston has
considered the acquisition of the real estate hereinafter
described in connection with the construction of a new public
library; and

WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is
necessary to acquire said real estate for the construction of a
new public library pursuant to the provisions of Section 11-61-1
of Chapter 24 of the Illinois Revised Statutes; and
WHEREAS, the acquisition of said real estate is useful,
advantageous and desirable, and for municipal purposes and the
public welfare;
i WHEREAS, the City Council has adopted ordinances
132-0-89 and 139-0-89 which authorized the purchase of said real
estate by the City;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF EVANSTON THAT:
SECTION 1: That it is necessary, required, desirable
and for the best interests of the City of
the City of Evanston that the real property legally described
as:
Parcel 1
The West 40 feet of Lot 11 and Lot 12 except the North
Twelve (12) feet of Lot 12 in Block 15 of the Village of
Evanston, in the Northeast 1/4 of fractional Section 18,
Township 41 North, Range 14 East of the Third Principal
Meridian in Cook County, Illinois.
Parcel 2

The West 40 feet of Lot 12 except the South 54 feet of
(' Lot 12 in Block 15 of the Village of Evanston, in the
Northeast 1/4 of fractional Section 18, Township 41
I North, Range 14 East of the Third Principal Meridian in
Cook County, Illinois.

h which said property lies wholly within the boundaries of the

City of Evanston, shall be acquired for the purposes of the
construction of a new public library.
SECTION 2: That the City Manager of the City of

Evanston be and he is hereby authorized,
empowered and directed to negotiate for and on behalf of the
City of Evanston with the owner of owners of the hereinabove
described real property for the purchase thereof at fair market
value by the City of Evanston.
SECTION 3: That in the event that the City Manager
is unable to agree with the owners of the
real property hereinabove described as to the compensation to be
1 paid therefor, then the Corporation counsel of the City of
Evanston be and he is hereby authorized to institute
condemnation proceedings in the name of the City of Evanston for

the purpose of acquiring title to and possession of said real
property hereinabove described in accordance with the eminent
domain laws of the State of Illinois.
SECTION 4: This resolution shall take effect and
be in full force from a of er its
