A RESOLUTION
Assuming Responsibility for Temporary
• Closing of Sheridan Road (Footrace)
WHEREAS, the Jewish Community Centers of Chicago, desire to
hold a footrace on Sheridan Road on Thursday, August 25, 1988, between
the hours of 6:30 P.M. and 8:30 P.M.
WHEREAS, said footrace will require the closing of Sheridan
Road either partially or completely between Central Street and
Greenwood Street; and
WHEREAS, the State of Illinois requires the City to assume all
responsibility and liability involved in the closing of said highway;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS, that said City will assume full
responsibility for the direction, protection and regulation of traffic
during the time the detour is in effect, and all liabilities for damages
of any kind occasioned by the closing of said State Route as to claims
Is made upon the State of Illinois.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that efficient, all weather detours
will be maintained, conspicously marked and judiciously police
patrolled for the benefit of traffic deviated from the State Route.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS.

• SECTION 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized and�,directed°
to sign, and the City Clerk is hereby authorized to
attest on behalf of the)City of Evanston, a lease by and between the City
of Evanston as lessee and Northwestern University as lessor for a certain
parcel located at 1850 Maple Avenue, Evanston, for a term of three (3)
years at a rental fee.of $1.00 per year.

SECTION 2. That the lease shall be in substantial conformance
with the proposed lease attached hereto as Exhibit A.
SECTION 3. That the City Manager.is hereby authorized and
directed to negotiate any additional conditions

on the lease as may be determined to be in the best interest of the City of
Evanston.
SECTION 4. That the parking requirement for the Charles H. Shaw
Building at 1890 Maple Avenue shall be accommodated
by spaces on the City -leased property at 1850 Maple Avenue.
