A RESOLUTION
Relating to Prevailing Wages
for Public Works Projects
WHEREAS, the State of Illinois has enacted "an Act
regulating wages of laborers, mechanics, and other workmen
employed in any public works by the State, County, City, or
any public body or any political subdivision or. by anyone
under contract for public works", approved June 26, 1941, as
amended, being Section 399-1-12, Chapter 48, Illinois Revised
Statutes, 1973, and
WHEREAS, the aforesaid Act requires that the
municipalities ascertain the prevailing rate of wages
applicable within the locality of such municipality for
laborers, mechanics, and workmen engaged in the construction
of public works:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOI.S that in accordance
with, and to the extent required by Chapter 48, Sections 39s-1
through 39s-12 of the Illinois Revised Statutes, the general
prevailing rate of wages is hereby ascertained to be the same
as the prevailing rate of wages for construction, work J n Cook
County as determined by the Illinois Department of Labor in
its compilation of June 1, 1988 a copy of which is attached
hereto as Exibit A.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that nothing herein contained
shall be construed to apply said general prevailing rate of
wages as herein ascertained to any work or employment except
public works construction of the City to the extent required
and as defined by the aforesaid Act.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of the Compilation,

I BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk shall mail a

Icertified copy of this determination, to any association of
employers, association of employees, or, any person who has
filed or who may file their names and address requesting a

copy of any determination stating the particular rates and the

particular class of workmen whose wages will be affected by
I
such rates.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk shall file. a
certified copy of the Resolution with both the Secretary of
State and the Department of Labor of the State of Illinois.
j BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk shall cause to

I� be published in a newspaper of general circulation within the

shall constitute notice that the determination is effective
