HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS-1988-021-R-88I March 23, 1988 21-R -88 A RESOLUTION • Authorizing the City of Evanston to contract for the purchase of the leasehold interest located at 607 Custer Avenue WHEREAS, Bruce Matsunaga, the owner of Gerard's Food Mart, which holds a valid lease to operate his business upon the premises of 607 Custer Avenue until December 31. 1991, and . WHEREAS, said property at 607 Custer Avenue is owned in fee simple by the City of Evanston, which is the landlord, and WHEREAS, said property is part of the Custer/Callan Redevelopment Project and the acquisition and termination of this leasehold is in the best interest of the City, necessary and appropriate for the City's economic development, and WHEREAS, the leasehold tenant has agreed to terminate his interest in said property in exchange for $36,000 and the waiver of 3 months' rent, • NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS, that the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract for, and negotiate additional terms as necessary and desirable, to acquire the leasehold interest to 607 Custer Avenue. THIS RESOLUTION shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication in the manner provided for by law.
