A Resolution
Regarding
Establishing
the Southwest
the City's Intent
Industrial Area
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Evanston
believes that a progressive balanced system of economic
development and the maintenance and improvement of the tax base
is essential to maintaining and improving the quality of
government services; and
WHEREAS, the City of Evanston recognizes that it is
necessary for the general welfare and economy of the community
that the City endeavor to provide permanent opportunities for
permanent employment; and
WHEREAS, a proposal has been presented regarding the
redevelopment of an area within the southwest portion of the
community for industrial opportunities; and
WHEREAS, said proposal is consistent with the adopted
Comprehensive General Plan, and, with the economic development
objectives of the City; and
WHEREAS, said development may require the cooperation
and/or the participation by the City of Evanston and a private
developer; and
WHEREAS, it is now deemed advisable by the City to
express formal interest in the project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CI`!'Y COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF EVANSTON, ILLINOIS, as follows:
SECTION 1. That the City of Evanston believes that
the concept of an Industrial Park in
southwest Evanston.is attractive and is of an overall benefit
to the community and that negotiations at this time are
warranted to determine the basis and extent of City cooperation
and/or participation.
SECTION 2. That the City Manager is authorized to
'initiate said negotiations with a
developer for the redevelopment of the southwest area and that
said negotiations shall determine the extent of City
cooperation and/or participation.
SECTION 3. That this Resolution of interest does not
constitute a commitment of the City to
any specific further action regarding the project. The extent
of any further action shall be determined after evidence has
been provided of the necessity and beneficial opportunities for
the- City to participate in this project and shall require
necessary documentation, review, and approval by the City.
This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and
after the date of its passage and approval in the manner
provided by law.
