A_RESOLUTION
Authorizing the City Manager to .
Contract for and Complete the Purchase of
1853 East Railroad Avenue
WHEREAS, the City Manager has heretofore been
authorized on behalf of the City of Evanston to negotiate the
purchase of certain real estate located at 1853 E. Railroad
Avenue and legally described as follows:
That part of .Lot 3 in Owners Subdivision of Lot 21.in
County Clerk's Division in the North West 1/4 of Section
18, Township 41 North, Range 14 East of the Third
Principal Meridian, described as follows: Beginning at a
point 24 feet north of thefsouth east corner of Lot 3;
thence west on a line parallel with the north line of said
Lot 3 to Railroad Avenue; thence northwesterly 45 feet;
thence east on a line parallel with said north line of Lot
3 to the east line of said Lot 3; thence south to the
point of beginning (except the north 3.5 feet of the south
27.5 feet (measured on the east line) of said Lot 3 in
Owners Resubdivision as conveyed by quitclaim deed from
Georgette Priestly and John E. Priestly, her husband, to
the City of Evanston, dated May 3, 1928, and recorded May
7, 192.8 as Document Number 10014645), in Cook County,
Illinois; and
• WHEREAS, said property is contiguous to the downtown
business district and a valuable acquisition in the best
interest of the City's economic development; and
WHEREAS, a real estate sales contract has been
negotiated by the parties for the sale of 1853 E. Railroad for
One Hundred Twenty-three Thousand Dollars ($123,000), including
purchase price and other associated expenses;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Evanston that the City Manager be and hereby is
authorized and directed to enter into a contract for, negotiate
aditional terms as necessary and desirable, and take title to
1853 East Railroad for One Hundred Twenty-three Thousand
Dollars ($123,000), which includes the purchase price and other
associated expenses. •
This resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage, approval, and publication in the
85-R-87 j
