I. A RESOLUTION
Amending Section 17.3 of the City Council's Rules
ifand Organization Concerning Meetings of the City Council

WHEREAS, Section 17.3 of the current City Council rules required
that City Council meetings shall be adjourned at 11:00 P.M. unless a motion
is passed by majority of the members present, to continue the meetings
beyond 11:00 P.M.

WHEREAS, there are times in which Council meeting agendas require ;

'. that meetings extend beyond 11:00 P.M., and

WHEREAS, the Rules Committee has determined that the City Council
should continue its efforts to adjourn by 11:00 P.M., but should not be

required to vote to extend meetings beyond 11:00 P.M.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE City Council of the City of

Evanston, Cook County, Illinois.
• ;' SECTION 1: That the following language be deleted from
I' Section 17.3 of the Rules and Organization of the !
City Council of the City of Evanston, "The Council shall remain in session
no later than 11:00 P.M. at which time it shall be adjourned unless a
motion is passed, by a majority vote of the members present, to continue
the meeting beyond 11:00 P.M."
SECTION 2: This resolution shall take effect and be in full
force from and after its passage.

A RESOLUTION
Amending Section 2.1 of the Rules and Organization
of the City Council Concerning Council Meeting Agendas
BE IT .RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK,
COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: That Rule 2 of the Rules and Organization
of the City Council of the City of Evanston is
hereby amended by adding a new number (1) to subparagraph 2.1 to read as
follows:

Mayor and City Manager Public Announcements.
Citizen comment.
Approval of the minutes of the preceding meeting.
Communications addressed to the Council. The City Clerk
shall summarize orally the contents of all communications
without reading the same in full unless a majority of the
City Council so requests.
Consent Agenda.
Report of Standing Committees
Report of Special Committees.
Report of the City Manager.
Miscellaneous business including announcements
and appointments by the Mayor.
Call of Wards, at which time each Alderman
shall be called upon by the Mayor to present
any matter which that Alderman desires to bring
before the Council. Purely administrative matters
relating solely to an Alderman's ward and not relating
to the City as a whole are out of order at this call.
SECTION 2. This Resolution shall take effect and be ,
in full force from and after its passage.
