A RESOLUTION
Authorizing Acquisition of 1234-38 Chicago Avenue
• WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Evanston has
considered the acquisition of real estate hereinafter described
for off-street parking purposes; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the
property and interest to be acquired is necessary, convenient,
and desirable for the public purpose herein stated; and
WHEREAS, the market value of the property herein
described is One Hundred Ninety-three Thousand and 00/100ths
Dollars ($193,000.00);
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Evanston, Cook County, Illinois:
SECTION 1: That it is necessary, convenient,
desirable and for the best interests of
the City of Evanston that the real property legally described
as:
Lots 1, 2 and 3 in F.B. Brewers subdivision of the south
137 feet of the north 312 feet of Block 1 of Schneider's
addition to Evanston, a subdivision of the north 1/2 of
the northwest 1/4 east of Railroad and west of Chicago
Avenue, of Section 19, Township 41 North, Range 14, east
of the third principal meridian, City of Evanston, Cook
County, Illinois
and commonly known as 1234-38 Chicago Avenue, Evanston,
Illinois
which said property lies wholly within the boundaries of the
City of Evanston, shall be acquired for off-street parking
purposes.
SECTION 2: That the City Manager of the City of
Evanston be and he is hereby authorized,
empowered.and,directed to negotiate for and on behalf of the
City of Evanston with the owner or owners of the hereinabove
• described real property for the purchase.thereof by the City of
Evanston.
SECTION 3: That in the event that the City

Manager is unable to agree with the owners of the real property
hereinabove described as to the compensation to be paid
therefor, then the Corporation Counsel of the City of Evanston
be and he is hereby authorized to institute condemnation
• proceedings i.n the name of the City of Evanston for the purpose
of acquiring title to.and possession of said real property
hereinabove described in accordance with the eminent domain
•
laws of the State of Illinois.
SECTION 4: This resolution shall take effect and be
in full force from and after its passage.
