HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS-1986-054-R-86• • 54-R-86 A RESOLUTION Relating to Prevailing Wages for Public Works Projects ' WHEREAS, the State of Illinois has enacted "as Act regulating wages of laborers, mechanics, and other workmen employed in any public works by the State, County, City or any public body or any political subdivision or by anyone under contract for public works," approved June 26, 1942, as amended; and WHEREAS, the aforesaid Act requires that municipalities ascertain the prevailing rate of wages applicable within the locality of such munici- pality for laborers, mechanics, and workmen engaged in the construction of public works; NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS that in accordance with, and to the extent required by Chapter 48, Sections 39s-1 through 39s-12 of the Illinois Revised Statutes, the general prevailing rate of wages is hereby ascertained to be the same as the prevailing rate of wages for construction work in Cook County as'determined by the Illinois Department of Labor in its compilation of June 2', 1986 a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit A. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that nothing herein contained shall be con- strued to apply said general prevailing rates of wages as herein ascertained to any work or employment except public works construction of the City to the extent required and defined by the aforesaid Act. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of Compilation, Exhibit A hereto shall be maintained and available for public inspection in the Office of the City Clerk of the City of Evanston. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk shall mail a certified copy of this determination to any association of employers, association of employees, or any person who has filed or who may file their names and address requesting a copy of any determination stating the particular rates ,and the particular class of workmen whose wages will be effected by such rates. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk shall file a certified copy of the Resolution with both the Secretary of State and the Department of Labor of the State of Illinois. • -0 • BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk shall cause to be pub- s lished in a newspaper of general circulation within the area a copy of this Resolution, and that such publication shall constitute notice that the deter- mination is effective and that this is the determination of this public body.
