HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS-1986-017-R-864'4 ,•e 3/6/86 • 17-R-86 A RESOLUTION Upon the Occasion of the Renaming of St. Paul Park (North) to "Harper Garden" WHEREAS, the late William E. Harper, Jr., was an Alderman representing the Fourth Ward in the City Council of the City of Evanston from ,1967 to the date of his death in 1973; and WHEREAS, Betty L. Harper was a member of the Zoning Amendment Committee from 1974 to 1985 and served as its Chairman from 1979 to 1981 and continues to be an active, involved citizen of Evanston; and I WHEREAS, the late William E. Harper served on various municipal , committees, proposed legislation of both a business and humanitarian nature, was active in encouraging the appreciation and pursuit of the creative and cultural arts and was interested in the work of youth organizations in Evanston; and s' ti • 'k` ' .,WHEREAS, Betty L. Harper is active in the League of Women Voters and various neighborhood and civic organizations, is involved in various zoning matters in the City of Evanston for over thirty-five years, and was instrumental in zoning amendments to allow legal non -conforming houses )I to be structurally altered or enlarged; and 'F WHEREAS, Betty L. Harper and the late William E. Harper served the.citizens of Evanston, giving most liberally of their time, energy and abilities; and WHEREAS, Ordinance 9-0-86, which changed the name of St. Paul Park (North) to "Harper.Garden", was introduced on February 10, 1986 and approved by.the City Council on March 24, 1986; r ' NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Evanston, Cook County, Illinois,•on behalf of itself, the Mayor and the residents of the community, do hereby express great appreciation to 21 18/St') 2/20/86 2/26/86 3/6/86 17-R-86 Betty L. Harper and the late William E. Harper, Jr. for their service to the City of Evanston. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be made a part of the permanent records of the City of Evanston and that a copy, executed by the Mayor and attested by the City Clerk be sent to the said Betty L.
