A RESOLUTION

Canvassing the Results of the Consolidated
Election held on April 2, 1985, and Declaring
the Results of Said Election
I
•WHEREAS, on the Second day of April, 1985, a
consolidated election was held in and for the City of Evanston, Cook County,
I
Illinois, for the purpose of electing one Mayor; one City Clerk; one
Alderman for each Ward, each to serve a full four (4) year term; and one
Alderman for the Second Ward, to serve a two (2) year term; and
WHEREAS, on the Second day of April, 1985, a
consolidated election was held in and for the City of Evanston, Cook County,
Illinois, for the purpose of conducting an Advisory Referendum to determine
if the Illinois General Assembly shall propose a constitutional amendment to
allow for the merit selection of circuit court and associate judges in Cook
County; and
WHEREAS, on the Second day of April, 1985, a i
consolidated election was held in and for the Township of Evanston, Cook
County, Illinois for the purpose of electing one Supervisor and one

Assessor, each to serve a full four (4) year term; and
I
WHEREAS, said consolidated election was regularly
called in the manner provided by law; and
WHEREAS, the official Canvassing Boards consisting

j of the Mayor, the City Clerk and the City Attorney for the City of Evanston-,
1 and the Town Supervisor, the Town Assessor and the Town Clerk for the Town
of the City of Evanston find from the returns of said consolidated election
that the following votes were cast for the candidates and referendum

TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, ILLINOIS:
The undersigned, having been duly notified by City Clerk Sandra W. Gross, to canvass
the vote in the City election held at the Consolidated Election on April 2, 1985,
for the purpose of electing City officials for the City of Evanston and for the
purpose of conducting an advisory referendum, reports that it has canvassed the vote
With respect to said election and referendum and reports the results as follows:

as submitted, be approved and made a part of the records of the City Council of the City of
Evanston.

elected to their respective offices:

SECTION 1: That by reason of said vote,
the City Council declares that JOAN W. BARR has been duly elected to a full
four (4) year term as Mayor of the City of Evanston.
SECTION 2: That by reason of said vote,
the City Council declares KIRSTEN F. (KRIS) DAVIS to have been duly elected
to a full four (4) year term as Clerk of the City of Evanston.
SECTION 3: That by reason of said vote.,
the City Council declares the following to have been duly elected to full
four (4) year terms as Aldermen in Wards hereinafter indicated:
(a) that JOHN T. RUDY, JR. has been duly elected
Alderman of the First Ward for a full four (4) year
term;
(b) that DENNIS R. DRUMMER has been duly elected
Alderman of the Second Ward for a full four (4) year
term;
(c) that SUE BRADY has been duly elected Alderman of the
Third Ward for a full four (4) year term;
(d) that EVELYN RADEN has been duly elected Alderman of
the Fourth Ward for a full four (4) year term;
(e) that MICHAEL (MIKE) SUMMERS has been duly elected
Alderman of the Fifth Ward for a full four (4) year
term
(f) that JON 0. NELSON has been duly elected Alderman of
the Sixth Ward for a full four (4) year term;
(g) that JOHN BLEVEANS has been duly elected Alderman of
the Seventh Ward for a full four (4) year term;
(h) that NORRIS LARSON has been duly elected Alderman of
the Eighth Ward for a full four (4) year term;
(i) that ROBERTA S. WARSHAW has been duly elected
Alderman of the Ninth Ward for a full four(4) year
term.
SECTION 4: That by reason of said vote, the City
Council declares RUTH E. THIEL to have been duly elected to a two (2) year
term as Alderman in the Second Ward.
SECTION 5: That by reason of said vote, the Town Board
of Trustees declares that EDNA WHITE SUMMERS has been duly elected to a full
four (4) year term as Supervisor of the Town of the City of Evanston.
SECTION 6: That by reason of said vote, the Town Board
of Trustees declares that STEPHEN B. ENGELMAN has been duly elected to a full
four (4) year term as Assessor of the Town of the City of Evanston.

SECTION 7: That by reason of said vote, the City
�l Council declares that the advisory referendum to determine if the Illinois
I, General Assembly shall propose a constitutional amendment to allow for the
merit selection of circuit and associate judges in Cook County .carried.
SECTION 8: That this Resolution is hereby made a
permanent part of the records of the City Council and the Town Board of
Trustees of the City of Evanston, Cook County, Illinois.
