HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS-1984-007-R-847-R-84 A RESOLUTION On the Occasion of the Death of Joseph Levy, Sr. WHEREAS, Joseph Levy, Sr. departed this life on December 29, 1983; and • WHEREAS, Mr. Levy, a highly respected and successful self-made businessman, magnanimously shared his success with others through various philanthropic efforts, and made significant contributions of his time, energy, ideas and money to promoting the delivery of human services to Evanston; and WHEREAS, Mr. Levy was directly 'responsible for the creation and development in 1970 of the Joseph and Sarah Levy Senior Citizens Center in Evanston, a multi -service center which evolved from the Student Union established by Joseph Levy in 1966; and WHEREAS, as a result of Mr. Levy's protective concern for the welfare of other seniors, his unflagging commitment and involvement and his life membership on the Senior Center's Advisory Board, the Center has flour'. .. ished and expanded to.meet the needs of countless senior residents and has improved the quality of their lives and thereby the lives of the entire Evanston community; and WHEREAS, Mr. Levy further promoted the development of services to senior citizens by establishing, contributing to and assisting in the adminis- tration of the.Life Enrichment Fund, which utilizes charitable donations to embellish the Center's City -operated program; • NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Evanston on behalf of its Mayor, the City Manager, City officials, senior citizens and other residents of this community expresses its sadness and sense of loss on the death of Joseph Levy, Sr., and pays tribute to his generosity of spirit; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this Resolution be prepared and presented to the members of his bereaved family. 4 May ATTEST: City Clerk Date: /. 17J a / .
