Home My WebLink AboutRESOLUTIONS-1983-012-R-83I 12-R-83 A RESOLUTION 3/10/83 Restructuring the City Council Standing Committees I WHEREAS, the Committee on Committees has considered a reference to re- structure Council Standing Committees; and I I WHEREAS, committee restructuring will result in more efficient use of the aldermen's time; and WHEREAS, committee restructuring will reduce the number of existing committees through consolidation; I NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Rule 9.4 of Council Rules is amended to read as follows: - 9.4 ADMINISTRATION AND PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE. The duties of this committee shall include matters relating to bills (including Township) and purchases; finance; fire; legal; licensing; per- sonnel; public works, including: streets and alleys, lighting, wefuse disposal, water and sewers, traffic control, and parking; public buildings; public transportation; public utilities; safety (including civil defense); liaison with the police and fire pension boards; and budget policy and capital improvements. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Rule 9.5 of Council Rules is amended to read as follows: 9.5 HUMAN SERVICES COMMITTEE. The duties of this committee shall include matters relating to the Department of Health and Human Services, including public health, mental health, youth, aging, emergency assistance and community purchased human services; liaison with human service related boards and commissions; school districts; and private and public organizations funding or pro- viding human services within the City; and matters relating to the arts, recreation, library, environment, unemployment and township. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Rule 9.7 of Council Rules is amended to read as follows: N 9.7 COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN. The chairmanship of the standing committees, except the Committee on Committees, shall be rotated automatically '.every twelve weeks. However, the members of any Council committee may regulate and adjust the rotation of the chairmanship so as to accommodate vacations, illnesses, and other contingencies.
