Approving the 1983 Community Development Program
For Funds Under Title I of
ii The Housing and Community Development Act of
1974 As Amended

WHEREAS, the Congress of the United States did pass the Housing and i
jiY P
Communit Development Act of 1974, which is known as Public Law 93-383;.and
is
I�
WHEREAS, Title I of the Act makes block grants available for certain
housing and community development activities; and
li
I
WHEREAS, the City of Evanston is an "entitlement City" by definition '
.iof said Act, and as such, is eligible for such funds; and
�i
WHEREAS, the Housing and Community Development Act consisting of
,alderpersons and citizen members has been formed to draft a program for the City;
I
,of Evanston; and
f
i
WHEREAS, this Committee has met on numerous occasions, conducted
i:three (3) Public Hearings on July 13, 1982, October 5, 1982 and December 7, 1982I
Ls now completed its recommended program for funding; and i

!; WHEREAS, said program has been submitted -to the entire City Council
`for its review and approval; I
I

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
i�
Evanston, Cook County, Illinois, hereby approves the attached program for Com-
!!munity
i Development Block Grant funds under Title I of the Housing and Community
lI
'Development Act of 1974 and directs that this program be filed on its.behalf.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Manager of the City of Evanston]

dis hereby designated the authorized representative of the City of Evanston to
' • ],act in connection with the program and all additional documentation and re -
'visions as may be'required to obtain funds under the Housing and Community
',Development Act of 1974.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Manager of the City of Evanston'
is hereby authorized to transmit the contents of said program in the form pre-
scribed by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development and to
;;provide said Department with revisions or additional information as may be i
i
!,r,equired, concerning the City of Evanston's program upon request.
