HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS-1980-072-R-80i► r� ,i ;r 72-R-80 A,RESOLUTION i Requesting Reservation of 100 Additional • i Elderly Housing Units and Reaffirming the Goal of 50 Units of Scattered Site Family Housing • WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Evanston did previously adopt Resolution 28-R-70 authorizing and clarifying a cooperation agreement with the Housing Authority of Cook County, in which 350 units of low -rent ,housing were proposed, of which 200 were designated for the elderly; and WHEREAS, the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development I'Ijsubsequently approved a public housing program for Evanston, but reduced ;the number of units to 100 elderly and 50 family; and 1� WHEREAS, 100 units of elderly housing and 26 units of family (;housing have been constructed to date; and WHEREAS, the City of Evanston still has need for additional units iiof low -rent, assisted elderly housing and the Housing Authority of Cook ;;County has indicated that Evanston may now be able to obtain the remainder �jof the elderly units it requested in 1970; and WHEREAS, the Evanston Housing Commission on October 9, 1980 did :!carefully discuss this issue and did pass a motion recommending the following ;action to the Human Services Committee; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Evanston, Cook County, Illinois that a reservation of 100 additional elderly housing units are requested; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said City Council reaffirms its commit- ment toward meeting the goal of 50 units of scattered site family housing, ! with 24 units still in process; and i BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the said City Council that a request be made that the existing reservation for the remaining 24 units of scattered site family housing be amended, if possible, to include the additional 100 elderly units.
