HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS-1980-067-R-809/25/80 + � i • 67-R-80 A RESOLUTION In Support of the Delinquent Tax Sale Amendment WHEREAS, the Illinois Constitution Article IX, Section 8, pre- ;i sently provides for two years to redeem the sales of all real estate sold for non-payment of taxes; and WHEREAS, a referendum will be placed on the November 4, 1980 ballot ii to amend Article IX, Section 8; and 1� i� i4 Ef WHEREAS, the preservation and rehabilitation of existing properties i� and the return of tax delinquent properties to the tax rolls are seriously impaired by the current provision; and WHEREAS, the proposed Delinquent Tax Sale Amendment would reduce '1 ,j the current two-year redemption period for the sale of commercial, industrial, i ij vacant non -farm, and large multi -family unit residential properties to a i i period not less than ninety days; and WHEREAS, the proposed Delinquent Tax Sale Amendment would not Iapply to single-family residences, farms or small apartment buildings: is NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Evanston City Council and the Evanston Town Board of 'trustees strongly support the passage of the j' proposed Delinquent Tax Sale Amendment.
