HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS-1970-044-R-70• 44-R-70 RESOLUTION Upon the Occasion of the Resignation of CITY MANAGER WAYNE F. ANDERSON WHEREAS, WAYNE F. ANDERSON'has served the City of Evanston as City Manager from 1962 through 1970 and, before that, as Finance Director and Comptroller from 1956 through 1962; and WHEREAS, WAYNE F. ANDJERSON has served the City Council and citizens of Evanston and many other civic and professional groups with the highest degree of dedication and has given most liberally of his time, energy and ability; and WHEREAS, WAYNE F. ANDERSON has been involved and respon- sible for the development of many new facilities, programs and services in the City of Evanston a beyond, such as - 1. Establishing the Police -Community and Police - School Programs, and, in general, reorganizing and strengthening the Police Department; 2. Taking action to stre-ngthen Evanston' Fountain Square area by facilitating the State National Bank development and other private developments, and the City's Sherman Avenue Parking Garage; 3. Negotiating the Canal Banks lease and developing these banks as a park.stretch- ing from Main Street'to Isabella Street; 4. Acquiring and developing numerous other park areas; 5. Expansion of the Water Plant and negotiating the 30-year Skokie water contract that establishes an improved basis for rate determination; 6. Establishing a Health Services contract • under which Evanston serves five other communities; 7. Negotiating the original contracts under which formal collective bargaining arrangements were established; 3aa • 8. Working to achieve the 1963 merger of the Welfare Council and United Fund, and facilitating the Welfare Council study of the Township General Assistance program; and 9. Actively participating in seeking legislation, revenue sharing and many other governmental improvements for the City of Evanston and local government in general: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this City Council on behalf of itself, the Mayor, the City officials, and the resident of this community on the occasion of the resignation of WAYNE F. ANDERSON as City Manager of the City of Evanston, in recognition of his fine and extraordinary service, his dedication to his office and to all the residents of the City of Evanston, and in recognition of his talents and unstinting energy in serving the City Council and rendering invaluable assistance, advice, and time to the Mayor and Aldermen, the City staff, and many groups in the City of Evanston, does hereby express its sincere appreci- ation to WAYNE F. ANDERSON. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be and is hereby made a part of the permanent records of the City of Evanston and that a copy executed by the Mayor and attested by the City Clerk be forwarded to WAYNE F.
