HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS-1983-014-PR-839 14-PR-83 A RESOLUTION Urging the Illinois General Assembly to Reinstate the Local Government Revenue Sharing Program in the 1984 State of Illinois Budget WHEREAS, the State of Illinois presently distributes $240 million annually in State Income Tax Funds to Illinois municipalities under the, Local Government Revenue Sharing Program; and WHEREAS, it is projected that the City of Evanston will receive $1.4 million, or approximately 5% of General Fund revenues from the State of Illinois under the Local Government Revenue Sharing Program during the 1983-84 City of Evanston fiscal year; and WHEREAS, the Governor of the State of Illinois has presented to the Illinois General Assembly a budget for the 1984 fiscal year, which proposes elimination of the Local Government Revenue Sharing Program; and WHEREAS, revenue received by the City of Evanston from the Local Government Revenue Sharing Fund is a -critical element of the Evanston General Fund.revenue structure, which supports most basic municipal services: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, ILLINOIS: 1. That the Illinois General Assembly is urged to reinstate the Local Government Revenue Sharing Program in the 1984 Budget. of the State of Illinois, with no reduction in the level of funding; and 2. .-.That copies of this Resolution be sent to the members of the General Assembly representing the City of Evanston, as well as to the Illinois Municipal League and the Northwest Municipal Conference. + Adopted: ' (,k v , 1983.
