A RESOLUTION
Authorizing the City Manager to Execute a Sourcewell Contract with
Thermosystems LLC for HVAC System Replacement at the Plumber
Inspectors Office
WHEREAS, the City of Evanston ("City") owns and operates the Plumber
Inspectors Office and is responsible for maintaining the building and its mechanical
systems; and
WHEREAS, the existing HVAC system has been in service since the 1980s, is
beyond the typical service life of commercial HVAC equipment, and is no longer capable of
maintaining acceptable indoor temperatures; and
WHEREAS, the existing HVAC system uses R-22 refrigerant, which has been
phased out for use in new equipment, creating additional maintenance, repair, and
refrigerant-management challenges; and
WHEREAS, replacing the existing HVAC system will provide a reliable,
currently supported system using R-32 refrigerant and will help maintain appropriate
working conditions and protect equipment and controls within the facility; and
WHEREAS, Sourcewell is a cooperative purchasing organization that
conducts competitive solicitations and awards contracts for use by participating public
agencies; and
WHEREAS, Thermosystems LLC participates in the Sourcewell cooperative
purchasing program and has provided pricing for the procurement and installation of the
replacement HVAC system under a Sourcewell-awarded contract; and
WHEREAS, the total cost for the equipment and installation services is Thirty -
Six Thousand Fifty One Dollars ($36,051.00); and

WHEREAS, funding for this purchase will be provided from the Water Fund
Minor Tools & Equipment Business Unit (Account 510.40.4220.65085); and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that entering the Sourcewell contract with
Thermosystems LLC is in the best interests of the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: The foregoing recitals are hereby found to be true and correct
and are incorporated into this Resolution as though fully set forth herein.
SECTION 2: The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to execute a
Sourcewell-awarded contract with Thermosystems LLC for the procurement and installation
of a replacement HVAC system at the Plumber Inspectors Office in a total not-to-exceed
amount of Thirty-Six Thousand Fifty One Dollars ($36,051.00), in substantially the form
approved by the Corporation Counsel.
SECTION 3: The City Manager, Corporation Counsel, City Clerk, and other
appropriate City officials are hereby authorized to execute all documents and take such
additional actions as may be necessary to carry out the intent of this Resolution.
SECTION 4: This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
