This Right-to-Know notice is being issued in accordance with the Illinois Environmental Protection Act. Why You Are Receiving This Notice You are receiving this notice because gasoline was released from the site, and petroleum vapors from this release entered a sewer system that serves your property. Based on information collected by the Illinois EPA, this migration may pose a potential exposure risk to your property, and this notice is being provided as a precaution to inform you that vapors associated with the release may reach your property through this sewer pathway. How Contaminants Can Reach Your Property Gasoline vapors in a sewer line can move through connected piping and travel along sewer lines that serve your property. These vapors may enter buildings through plumbing fixtures, floor drains, cleanouts, or vent pipes, especially if any part of the plumbing system is damaged, disconnected, or not fully sealed. Health Information Short-term exposure to gasoline vapors indoors may cause symptoms such as headaches, nausea, dizziness, or irritation of the eyes and respiratory system. Gasoline vapors can accumulate in enclosed spaces, so it is important to address any persistent petroleum odors promptly. If you notice petroleum odors indoors, increasing ventilation may help reduce potential exposure. Contact a qualified professional if odors persist. Planned Investigation and Remediation Activities Initial response actions have already been taken to reduce vapor levels in the sewer system. The site is currently under investigation through the Illinois EPA Leaking Underground Storage Tank Program. Investigation and remediation activities will continue both on-site and off-site. Planned work includes installing additional monitoring wells, conducting free product recovery using a vacuum truck, and evaluating conditions within the sewer system. These activities are expected to begin soon, and you may observe workers in the area as part of these efforts. Workers may request access to certain areas of your property to evaluate conditions or perform necessary work, and your cooperation can help support these ongoing efforts.
