I am resigning at that date and time to ensure that irrespective of the outcome of the November election, Evanston will have a 2027 special election to determine who will serve out the final two years of the term that I was elected to in 2025. It has been an honor to serve as Evanston's mayor, working alongside you and the 81st and 82st City Councils to implement reparations, reform public safety, take bold climate action, address Evanston's housing challenges, and more. Evanston will continue to navigate very challenging waters, as the Trump administration assaults our values, the safety of our families, and our municipal revenues. Whether as a member of Congress or a private citizen, I look forward to continuing to partner with you and our City government on behalf of all Evanston residents. Thank you again for your collaboration and friendship. Sincerely, Daniel Biss Mayor, City of Evanston State of Illinois ) SS. County of Cook ) Signed and sworn (or affirmed) before me by Daniel Biss on July 21, 2026.
