Subject: Resolution 54-R-26 Authorizing the City Manager to Execute an
Agreement with Evanston Township High School to supply lunches for
the 2026 Summer Food Program

Motion:
Approval of Resolution 54-R-26 authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement with
Evanston Township High School (1600 Dodge Ave, Evanston, IL 60201) to provide lunches
for the 2026 Summer Food Program. The agreement shall not exceed $3.75 per lunch meal
on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday; $4.00 per lunch meal on Monday and Wednesday; $4.25
per special diet meal; and $1.25 per breakfast meal.
Funding Source:
This is a reimbursement program in which the total reimbursement the City receives depends
solely on the number of meals served and varies by level of participation. The city’s estimated
reimbursement is calculated using the highest daily participation level stated in our
application. Funding for this program is budgeted in Business Unit 130.30.3050 across
various line items.
Projected expenses for food costs are $165,000, and projected revenue reimbursement is
$195,000.

Summary:
The City participates in the Summer Food Service Program, a USDA-sponsored, Illinois State
Board of Education (ISBE)- administered program that provides free breakfast and lunch to
all youth aged 1-18. The lunch program will be held from Monday to Friday, June 8 to August
14, 2026, at the following sites: Robert Crown Center, Fleetwood-Jourdain Center, and

Dawes School. Additionally, it will be held from June 10 to July 24, 2026, at Lincolnwood
School and Dewey School.

A RESOLUTION
Authorizing the City Manager to
Execute an Agreement with Evanston Township High School to supply
lunches for the 2026 Summer Food Program
WHEREAS, the Evanston City Council believes entering into an Agreement with
Evanston Township High School is in the best interests of the citizens of Evanston,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to sign, and
the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to attest on behalf of the City of Evanston,
an Agreement between the City and Evanston Township High School.
SECTION 2: That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to negotiate
any terms of an Agreement as may be determined to be in the best interests of the City.
SECTION 3: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after
its passage, approval, and publication in the manner provided by law.
