If a vacancy occurs in the office of Mayor and there
remains an unexpired portion of the term, the office
shall be filled in accordance with state law and
pursuant to 65 ILCS 5/5-2-12(g) and 65 ILCS 5/3.1-10-
50. of at least one (1) year, the vacancy shall be filled
by a special election which shall be held within six (6)
months after the vacancy occurs.Where state law

holding office, Acting Mayor who shall perform the
