A RESOLUTION
Authorizing the City Clerk to Sign an Illinois Department of
Transportation MFT Resolution for Improvement under the Illinois
Highway Code for General Maintenance Activities
WHEREAS, in order to facilitate the free flow of traffic and ensure safety to
the motoring public and pedestrians, the City of Evanston and the Illinois Department of
Transportation ("IDOT") intend to enter into an Illinois Department of Transportation
Resolution for Improvement Under the Illinois Highway Code, copies of which are
attached hereto and incorporated herein as Exhibit 1 and Exhibit 2, for improvements to
asphalt pavement crack sealing, pavement markings, pavement patching, pavement
rejuvenation, leaf hauling, snow and ice removal, salt purchases, street lighting bills,
Tallmadge poles, and LED fixtures within the City of Evanston; and
WHEREAS, said roadway improvements consist of various general
maintenance items funded through the Motor Fuel Tax Fund ("MFT Fund"), as further
detailed in Exhibit 2; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary for the City Clerk to execute the [DOT
Resolution for Improvement Under the Illinois Highway Code, allocating a portion of the
City's Motor Fuel Tax funds in the principal amount of Two Million Two Hundred Eighty -
Six Thousand Six Hundred Seventy -Three Dollars and Thirty Cents ($2,286,673.30) to
pay for said various pavement maintenance items; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is in the best interests of
the City to execute the aforementioned resolution for general maintenance activities;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: The foregoing recitals are hereby found as fact and incorporated herein
by reference.
SECTION 2: The City Clerk is hereby authorized to sign and attest to the Resolution for
Improvement Under the Illinois Highway Code between the City of Evanston and IDOT,
attached hereto as Exhibit 1, together with the Estimate of Maintenance Costs attached
hereto as Exhibit 2.
SECTION 3: That this Resolution 98-R-26 shall be in full force and effect from and after
its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.

BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of

including supplemental or revised estimates approved in connection with this resolution, are eligible for maintenance with Motor Fuel Tax
funds during the period as specified above.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that City of Evanston

shall submit within three months after the end of the maintenance period as stated above, to the Department of Transportation, on fors
available from the Department, a certified statement showing expenditures and the balances remaining in the funds authorized for
expenditure by the Department under this appropriation, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk is hereby directed to transmit four (4) certified originals of this resolution to the district office of
the Department of Transportation.
