A RESOLUTION
Approving Additional Financial Support for the Wesley Tenants in the
Not to Exceed Amount of $63,229.50 from the Emergency Assistance
and Affordable Housing Funds
WHEREAS, in 2024, eighteen (18) tenant households residing at 2014, 2018, and
2424 Wesley Avenue were evacuated due to dangerous conditions that made the
buildings uninhabitable; and
WHEREAS, the Evanston City Council approved funding for rent assistance and
case management support for up to 24 months during which time the tenant households,
which were displaced for no fault of their own, would secure stable housing; and
WHEREAS, up to six (6) households, including a new household resulting from
the separation of two members from one of the households, are not stably housed or are
perceived to be at risk of losing their housing without additional support. Approving
additional funding not to exceed $63,229.50 to be used only as needed is in the best
interests of those tenants.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: That up to $63,229.50 from the Emergency Assistance and
Affordable Housing Funds is hereby authorized to provide up to 12 months of
additional housing assistance for the Wesley tenants, and the City Manager is directed
to sign, and the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to attest on behalf of the
City of Evanston to this authorization of funding.

SECTION 2: That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to negotiate
any terms of an Agreement as may be determined to be in the best interests of the City.
SECTION 3: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after
its passage, approval, and publication in the manner provided by law.
