A RESOLUTION
Authorizing the City Clerk to Sign an Illinois Department of
Transportation MFT Resolution for Improvement under the Illinois
Highway Code for Traffic Signal Improvements
WHEREAS, in order to facilitate the free flow of traffic and ensure safety to
the motoring public and pedestrians, the City of Evanston and the Illinois Department of
Transportation (“IDOT”), intend to enter into an Illinois Department of Transportation
Resolution for Improvement Under the Illinois Highway Code, a copy of which is attached
hereto and incorporated herein as Exhibit 1, for traffic signal improvements within the City
of Evanston; and
WHEREAS, said roadway improvements consist of traffic signal
improvements, including fiber optic interconnect; sidewalk and curb ramp replacement;
installation of Accessible Pedestrian Signals (APS); pavement patching adjacent to curb
ramp improvements; parkway restoration; and related incidental work along the various
streets highlighted in Exhibit 2 (the “Traffic Signal Improvements”); and
WHEREAS, it is necessary for the City Clerk to execute the IDOT
Resolution for Improvement Under the Illinois Highway Code, allocating a portion of the
City’s Motor Fuel Tax funds in the principal amount of one million eight hundred thousand
($1,800,000.00) to pay for said Traffic Signal Improvements; and

WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is in the best interests
of the City to execute the aforementioned resolution for certain Traffic Signal
Improvements,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: The foregoing recitals are hereby found as fact and
incorporated herein by reference.
SECTION 2: The City Clerk is hereby authorized to sign and attest to the
Resolution for Improvement under the Illinois Highway Code between the City of Evanston
and IDOT, attached hereto as Exhibit 1.
SECTION 3: That this Resolution 49-R-26 shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
