HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 24-R-26, Authorizing an Application to the Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways for Invest in Cook 2026 Grant Funding for Design Engineering Services for Transportation (1) (1) 3/09/2026 24-R-26 A RESOLUTION A RESOLUTION Authorizing an Application to the Cook County Depar tment of Transpor tation and Highways for Invest in Cook 2026 Grant Funding for Design Engineering Ser vices for Transpor tation Infrastr ucture Improvements on Main Street WHEREAS, the City of Evanston seeks to address the livability and environmental needs of our community with green infrastructure opportunities when performing public works projects; and WHEREAS, the Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways administers the Invest in Cook Program, which provides competitive grant funding to municipalities for eligible transportation project phases, including planning and design engineering services; and WHEREAS, the City intends to apply for Invest in Cook 2026 funding to support the support design engineering services of transportation infrastructure improvements identified in the City’s Capital Improvement Program; and WHEREAS, the proposed project will enhance transportation safety, mobility, and connectivity within the community, and design engineering services are necessary to advance the project toward implementation and future construction; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds it in the best interest of the City to seek Invest in Cook funding to assist in offsetting the costs associated with construction of this project. Page 1 of 2 24-R-26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: The foregoing recitals are incorporated herein by reference as though fully restated. SECTION 2: City staff is hereby authorized to prepare and submit an application to the Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways for Invest in Cook 2026 funding in an amount not to exceed $400,000 for design engineering services for transportation infrastructure improvements on Main Street, which will enhance transportation safety, mobility, and connectivity within the community and advance the project toward implementation and future construction. SECTION 3: That this Resolution 24-R-26 shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
