HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 10-R-26, Authorizing the City Manager to Submit a Grant Application for Federal Funding through the Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development Grant Program (1) (1)02/09/2026 10-R-26 A RESOLUTION Authorizing the City Manager to Submit a Grant Application for Federal Funding through the Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development Grant Program WHEREAS, the City of Evanston contains roadways and shoreline on Sheridan Road and South Boulevard between the City’s southern border and Chicago Avenue; and WHEREAS for been have shoreline identifiedroadways these , and motorized and non-motorized transportation improvements and reconstruction of an existing shoreline revetment (the “Project”); and WHEREAS, the City of Evanston will work with the City of Chicago to extend a portion of this project to Juneway Terrace in the City of Chicago to appropriately connect the motorized and non-motorized transportation improvements; and WHEREAS, the City of Evanston wishes to apply for federal funds through the Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (“BUILD”) Grant Program, which Phase 2 Phase and1 for provide federal in $3,400,000would funding engineering services; and WHEREAS, the City of Evanston’s share of funding for this grant would be $0; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Evanston has determined it is in the best interests of the City to apply for the BUILD grant for federal funding to fulfill the aforementioned Project goal, Page 1 of 2 10-R-26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: The City Council hereby adopts the foregoing recitals as its findings, as if fully set forth herein. SECTION 2: The City Manager is hereby authorized to sign and submit all necessary application documents for the BUILD grant to fund the Project. SECTION 3: The City Manager is also authorized and directed to negotiate and execute any additional documents required for the grant application as he may determine to be in the best interests of the City.
