King, Water Production Bureau Chief Subject: Geovision Electronic Door Access System Date: August 5, 2025 Recommended Action: Staff recommends the City Manager approve the single source purchase of the Geovision Electronic Door Access System with Shield Communications (3102 Starling Lane, Rolling Meadows, IL. 60008) in the amount of $20,842.00. Funding Source: Funding in the amount of $20,842.00 will be from the Water Fund account number 510.40.4210.65085, which has a FY 2025 budget allocation of $140,000.00. This account has a year-to-date balance of $114,659.01. Background: This project involves installing the Geovision electronic door access system at three key locations: the chain deck and chlorine room within the filtration building, and garage #7. The system will enhance security and access control at these sites. Additionally, the Risk and Resilience Assessment recommended transitioning to an electronic access control system across the entire plant and at the standpipes. This type of system enables immediate deactivation of individual access when necessary. The system has already been successfully implemented in several areas of the treatment plant and has demonstrated reliable performance. Shield Communications has installed this electronic door access system in multiple areas of the treatment plant, and their performance has been outstanding.
