HomeMy WebLinkAbout98-O-24_Amending_City_Code_Section_10452__Parking_in_Predominantly_Residential_Areas_~1~ 11/25/2024 98-O-24 AN ORDINANCE Amending City Code Section 10-4-5-2 “Parking in Predominantly Residential Areas” WHEREAS, the Evanston City Council deems it is in the best interest of the City of Evanston to increase the fee for residential parking vehicle parking permits as set forth in 10-4-5-2 of the City Code. NOW BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS, THAT: SECTION 1: Section 10-4-5-2 “Parking in Predominantly Residential Areas” of the City Code of 2024 is hereby amended to increase the fee for vehicle parking permits from $115 to $140 and for permits issued after January 1 to be raised from $57.50 to $70.00, effective January 1, 2025, as follows: 10-4-5-2 – PARKING IN PREDOMINANTLY RESIDENTIAL AREAS. . . . (B) Residential Permit Parking Areas. . . . 11.The fee of one hundred forty dollars ($140.00) one hundred fifteen dollars ($115.00) per permit, annually, is hereby established to cover administrative costs of permits, signs, and related costs of the residential permit parking programs. The fee is to be reduced by the amount of the Evanston vehicle license for those applicants who have purchased said license. Permits issued on or after January 1 shall have a fee of seventy dollars ($70.00) fifty-seven dollars and fifty cents ($57.50). SECTION 2: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. Doc ID: ec532f3fb5ae95dd8fb5c9a100b7d2d39b7896e8Page 1 of 2 ~2~ SECTION 3: If any provision of this Ordinance 98-O-24 or application thereof to any person or circumstance is held unconstitutional or otherwise invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications of this Ordinance that can be given effect without the invalid application or provision, and each invalid application of this Ordinance is severable. SECTION 4: The findings and recitals contained herein are declared to be prima facie evidence of the law of the City and shall be received in evidence as provided by the Illinois Compiled Statutes and the courts of the State of Illinois.
