King, Water Production Bureau Chief Subject: Service Building Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) Installation Date: March 14, 2024 Recommended Action: Staff recommends the Public Works Director approve an agreement with Connelly Electric (40 S. Addison Road, Suite 100, Addison, IL 60101) for the installation of the Service Building UPS in the amount of $7,800.00. Funding Source: Funding in the amount of $7,800.00 will be from the Water Fund account number 510.40.4210.62245, which has a FY 2024 budget of $198,000.00. This account has a year-to-date balance of $173,000.01. Summary: On August 26, 2023, the fire alarm was triggered at the water plant. The on-duty operators contacted the fire department. Upon the fire department’s arrival, they identified the alarm was coming from the service building UPS room where it was determined by staff that the UPS equipment in the service building closet had a major fault and part of it had blown. The service building UPS has been de-energized and removed from service. The service building is now being backed up by the pumping division's UPS. The service building UPS is not repairable and must be replaced. Due to a flooding incident that occurred at the water plant on November 3, 2023, the UPS equipment that was originally purchased to replace the service building UPS, was used to replace the filtration building UPS. Staff procured a second UPS that is now on site and ready to be installed in the service building.
