Alderman Brady, Mayor Barr, Aldermen Heydemann, Rainey, Engelman, and Warshaw discussed the process to
be used to move the Ordinance toward adoption. It was the consensus of the Council to deal with proposed
technical changes in the Planning and Development Committee and to deal with the controversial aspects of the
Ordinance in Committee of the Whole discussions.
Alderman Nelson said that he felt that the Chicago Tribune had recently been engaged in bashing our community
and felt that it had not gotten its facts correct in a recent story on crime statistics. He noted that it had played up
violent crime in Evanston, while down playing drug problems in Glenview and Northbrook. He thanked the
Evanston Review for a more balanced story on the same topic. He suggested that the Tribune be more even-handed
in its reporting.
There being no further business to come before the Public Hearing, Mayor Barr declared it to be. at an end at 9:58
P.M.
