TOPICS
I. Litter
Issue: Who is responsible for trash pick-up at beach, parking lot and
picnic shelter?
Resolution: Study responsibilities/schedules between lifeguards, Park
Patrol, Concession stand, b Parks Department.
I1. Parking Lot Fence
Issue: Fence is in disrepair.
-Evanston Parks Department will remove fence, but no replacement
in same place
-Lighthouse Park District will allow fence to be moved onto their
property to protect their woodlot
-Who will pay for moving old fence or new fence
Resolution: Evanston Parks Department/Lighthouse Park District needs to
discuss options
III. ParKinq__Lot Island Plantings
Issue: New plantings need to be established in east island and pruning on
all growing shrubs
Resolution: Replant bare spot and protect with snow fence, and pruning
on the rest. Placement of large rocks was suggested to stop
vehicles from jumping curb. (Evanston Parks Dept.)
IV. Art Center Grounds
Issue: Better maintenance of planting beds around Art Center. Evanston
Parks Dept. can maintain beds 2-3 times a year.
Resolution: Evanston Parks Dept. will estimate cost to provide maintenance
(Suggestion that Art Center will pay for maintenance). Review
Christy Plan and identify plantings that still need to be
planted. Insure that no high maintenance plant materials are
specified
V. Art Center Pottery Area
Issue: Area is unsightly
Resolution: Art Center will construct lattice work around porch openings
VI. Council Rinq
Issue: Plant material blocks view to the Lake
Resolution: Evanston Parks Department will remove weedy plant material
VII. Wildflower Trail
Issue: Maintenance of beds.
Resolution: Evanston Garden Club will make a special effort to maintain
retaining wall bed

VIII. Grotto Pond
Issue: maintenance of pond
Resolution: City of Evanston building maintenance
will be asked to reset
stonework.
IX.
Dumpsters
Issue: Dumpster unsightly
Resolution: Issue of screening dumpsters
still needs to be discussed
X.
Dune Restoration
Issue: Interpretive Plan
Resolution: Ecology Center is developing
a plan which will include
signing and walkway system.
Ecology Center can fund
as much as possible. Signing
is a priority.
XI.
Prairie Walkway, Prairie Garden
Issue: Better maintenance
Resolution: Ecology Center will redesign
prairie garden and Lighthouse
Park District will establish
& maintain lawn in other areas.
XII.
Interpretive Program
Issue: Responsiblities of interpretive program
at Lighthouse Park
Resolution: Lighthouse Park District has offered to run the weekend
Lighthouse Tour Program. Ecology Center will run Nature
Center program and School Group Tour. LPD & Ecology Center
need to discuss details of Lighthouse exhibits and tours.
The next Lighthouse Landing Advisory Committee meeting will be held
in March, at which time these issues will be finalized.
