Mother of young resident who was handcuffed pointed to institutional
racism of city, requested all city records of the event and history of
complaints
Father of young resident shared academic, extracurricular and
community involvement of his son
Two residents stated racial profiling is a problem within the City of
Evanston
Two residents stated the City Council was racist in its handling of
Kendall comments
Resident requested formal apology from the City regarding handling of
youth that was handcuffed
Two residents requested Revolution Spin’s business license be revoked
Owner of Revolution Spin explained measures that were being

Ald. Fiske thanked City staff for spending time at a community meeting
Ald. Braithwaite thanked the Council and community members who
supported him in time of mourning. Thanked residents who spoke on
racial profiling and the Greenwell family who underwent the ordeal. Next
ward meeting is this Thursday at the Joseph Hill education center
Ald. Wynne thanked staff and council for support over Main and Chicago
TIF, shared a new business opening See Jane Sparkle, and also
remembered Albe Lauterbach who was active in supporting liberal
causes
Ald. Holmes reminded residents of the 9/11 Memorial being held at
Fireman’s Park
Ald. Tendam cautioned residents to lock their cars and garage doors
due to recent break-ins and wishes Jewish residents a Happy New Year
Ald. Grover thanked Peaceable Cities, Officer Loyce Spells, Bishop
Mooney and Rabbi Brant Rosen, and congratulates the Rabbi on his
new book “Wrestling in the Daylight.”
Ald. Rainey reminded all residents of the Levy Center 10-year
anniversary this Saturday at 1:00 pm.
Clerk Greene announced applications for early voting are available
October 22 – November 3 and Petitions for office are available
beginning September 25 and due December 15-24.
