Adding -Sections 27-116.1 and
27-116.2, and Amending'Section

of the City of Evanston, 1957s
"PARKING METERS"
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON,
COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: That Division 3 "Parking Meters" of
Chap. 27 of Article IV "Motor Vehicles
and Traffic" of the Code of'the City of Evanston 1957, be and the
same is hereby amended by adding Section 27-116.1 and Section 27-116.2
and amending Section 27-118, so that same shall hereafter be and
read as follows:
27-116.1: The parking of vehicles, within the 12-hour
. parking meter zone, shall be regulated by
parking meters between the hours of 9:00 A.M. Mondays
through 12:00 Noon of the following Saturday of each
week, except on National Holidays.
27-116.2: The parking of vehicles, within 24-minute
parking meter zones, shall be regulated by
parking meters on Mondays and Thursdays between the
hours of 9:00 A.M. and 9:00 P.M. and on other days
between the hours of 9:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M. excepting
on Sundays and National Holidays.
27"118: No vehicle shall be parked in any of the park-
ing meter zones referred to in "Division 3"
during the hours such meters are to regulate and control
parking therein, unless a coin or coins in currency of the
United States of appropriate denomination to place such
meter in operation shall be inserted, or shall have previously
been inserted for an unexpired interval of time, in the
parking meter placed adjacent t'o the parking space in
which the vehicle is parked.
The coins of the United States used to place a parking
meter in operation shall be inserted in the meter through
the slot provided for such purpose in the parking meter
case or head.
No vehicle shall be parked in any parking area within
a 24-minute parking meter zone for more than 24 minutes
of consecutive time, nor in any one -hour parking meter
zone for more than one hour of consecutive time, nor in
any two-hour parking meter zone for more than two hours of
consecutive time, nor in any three-hour parking meter zone
for more than three hours of consecutive time, nor in any
10-hour parking meter zone for more than 10 hours of con-
secutive time, nor in any 12-hour parking meter zone for
more than 12 hours of consecutive time, nor in any 16-hour
parking meter zone for more than 16 hours of consecutive
time, during the hours meters are to regulate and control
parking in such zones, irrespective of the number of coins
inserted in the parking meter.
It shall be unlawful for any person whether or not he is
in control of or the owner of a motor vehicle, and whether
with or without the consent of the person owning or con-
trolling such motor vehicle parked in a parking meter zone
during the hours such parking meters are regulating and
controlling parking therein, to insert a coin or coins for
the purpose of extending the time of parking said motor
vehicle beyond the legally permitted consecutive time
designated in such parking meter zone.
Any person who -shall violate, or cause or consent to a
violation of this section shall, upon conviction, be
punished by a fine of not less than $2.00.
SECTION 2: That all ordinances or parts of or-
dinances in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed.
SECTION•3: This ordinance shall be in full force
and effect from and after its passage,
approval and publication, according to law.
