AN ORDINANCE
Providing for the Licensing
of Public Garages
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: That there be added to Chapter 25
"Licenses and Occupation Taxes"
of -the -Code* of the City of Evanston, Illinois, 1957; Sections
25-20 to 25-23�, inclusive,' providing for the licensing -of
Public Garages, so that said sections shall read as follows:
Section 25-20. Public Garages Defined.
The words "Public Garage" as used in this article,
is hereby defined as meaning any building or
structure where four or more automobiles or other
motor -driven vehicles are stored or parked for
compensation.
Section 25-21. License Required.
No - person,, firm, or corporation `shall manage,
conduct or operate a public garage without first
having obtained a license therefor.
Section 25-22. Application for License.
Application for a license to manage, conduct,
operate or maintain a public garage shall be made
i`n writing to the City Collector. The application
shall' contain the name of the applicant, if an
individual, the names of the principal officers, if
a -corporation, and the location at which the applicant
desires to operate, manage or conduct a public garage.
A -separate license shall be required for each public
garage managedi, conducted op operated by any applicant
wherever located in the City of Evanston.
Before a license shall be issued, each application
shall -be submitted to the Director of Building who
shall determine that all the requirements of the Boca
Basic�Guilding Code, the zoning ordinance, the plumb-
ing'code, and the electrical code of the City of
Evanston are complied with. When an application has
been filed and approved by the Director of Building,
as,hereinabove provided, then upon the payment of the
license fee hereinafter provided, the City Collector
shall issue to said applicant a license authorizing
said applicant to engage in the business of a public
garage in the place designated in the license and
for the period herein stated.

Section 25-23. License Fee.
The annual license fee for a public garage shall
be Twenty-five dollars ($25.00), provided however,
that only one-half of the full license fee shall.be
charged for a public garage license isued on or
after the lst day of July in any year. All licenses
issued under the provisions of this ordinance shall
expire on the 31st day of December following date
of issuance. Said license shall be posted and
remain posted in a conspicuous place in said public
garage.
SECTION 2: All ordinances or parts of
ordinances in conflict herewith
are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3: Any person, firm or corporation
who shall violate any of the pro-
visions of this ordinance shall be punished by a fine in
accordance with Section 1-4 of the Code of the City of
Evanston, 1957. Each day that a violation of the provisions
of this ordinance shall continue shall constitute a separate
offense.
SECTION 4.: This ordinance shall be in full
force and effect from and after
its passage, approval and publication, according to law.
