HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1961-086-O-61m • 2� 86-0-61 AN ORDINANCE Amending Sections 19-41 and 1.9-42 of the Code of the City of Evanston 1957 "Restaurants and Food Dispensers." BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS° SECTION 1? The definition of "food dispensers" appearing under Section 19-41 and the annual license fee appearing under Section 19-42 of the Code of the City of Evanston, 1957, be amended so that said definition and license fees shall hereafter be and read as follows - Section 19-41 - Food Dispensers; shall include and apply to • the followings restaurant, coffeeshop, cafeteria, cafe, luncheonette, sandwich stand, box lunch deliverers, soda fountain, school lunchroom, private club, tea room, educational institution, caterers and industrial food servers dispensing food or drinks to personnel or employees of any industrial plant or business concern, fraternity and sorority houses serving food to their members, and all other public eating or drinking establishments, as well as kitchens or other places in which food or drink is prepared for sale elsewhere. Service Accommodation, is hereby defined as the seating place where one patron or customer to be served can be seated, or in lieu of seating space two lineal feet of counter space which may be used or occupied by one patron or customer to be served while standing, and in the case of drive-in restaurants, shall include in addition thereto each parking space for motor vehicles provided for the accommodation of patrons or customers. Section 19-42 -be amended by deleting the words "the annual license fee of a food dispenser in a place or establishment where there are service accommodations for 20 persons or less, shall be $25; where service accommodations are provided for more than 20 persons, the annual license fee shall be $25 plus 50� for the service accommodations of each person in excess of"20" and inserting in lieu thereof the following- 0 0 The annual license fee of a food dispenser as defined under Section 19-41 shall be as follows: (a) Where there are service accommodations for 20 persons or less, the annual license fee shall be $35 - and where service accommodations are provided for more than 20 persons, the annual license fee shall be $35 plus 75t for the service accommodations for each person in excess of 20, provided however, that the maximum license fee as herein provided shall not exceed a total of $150.. (b) The annual license fee for educational institutions including schools, fraternity and sorority houses shall be. one-half of the foregoing, provided that the maximum annual license fee as herein provided shall not exceed a total of $75. (c) The annual license fee for drive-in restaurants shall be $35 plus $2 for each motor vehicle service accommo- dation, provided however, that the maximum annual license fee shall not exceed a total of $150. (d) The annual license fee for those establishments selling only ice cream, soda water and soft drinks exclusively, shall be $20,. where there are service accommodations for 20 persons or less, plus 50� for each service accommodation in excess of 20. repealed. SECTION 2: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby SECTION 3: This ordinance shall be in .full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication, according to law.
