One is a $390,000 Munici- pal Court building in 1965; another is a $450,000 building for the health department in 1966. Next year's park and recreation projects would cost $613,000. The program includes an ice skating rink, $325,000; first year of the beach program, $188,000, and $100,000 for new park land. Park land being sought by .the city includes lots at Monroe street and Ridge avenue, 937-39 Brown avenue, 1735 Hovland court, 1802 Grey avenue and the northwest corner of Darrow avenue and Greenleaf street. Asks for More Parks Mr. Johnson also proposes $280,- 000 from the general fund for ac- quisition and development of park sites from-1963 to 1966. Plans for a boat harbor and fish- ing pier are scheduled in the pro- gram after 1966, with the cost set at $150,000. The means for financ- ing them were marked "unknown" in the program schedule. The manager said plans should also be made for an expenditure of $220,000 for additional parking lots, including $20,000 next .year and $50,000 a year each year until 1966. These funds would come from pro- ceeds in parking revenue, he said. Includes Land Trade Additional parking through a land exchange between the city and Northwestern is scheduled in the program, but is designated as a no -cost item because improve- ment will be basically a trade. (The city is negotiating to trade streets on the south part of the Northwestern campus for land owned by the university in the downtown area. Part of this land will be used for the rerouting of Clark street from Sheridan road to Emerson street. The rest will be used for parking lots.) Seen as a possible project after 1966 to be financed either by pri- vate business or parking revenue bonds is a downtown parking struc- ture to house space for 275 autos. The capital improvements program would use $1,067,000 in general fund monies. General Obligation Bonds: Proj- ects totaling $1,842,000 would re- quire bond issues subject to voter approval. Bonds if approved would be retired out of tax income. Motor -Fuel Tax: Expenditures from this source are limited to street improvements. The city plans to spend $6,700,000 in motor fuel tax funds in the next 10 years. Parking Revenue: Income from parking meters and the operation of parking lots would pay for $1,020,000 in parking improve- ments. Water Revenue: Income from the sale of water would pay for water projects totaling $4,028,000. penditure of $2,028,800 next year. Settling basin additions would cost $745,000 next year and $320,000 in 1963; new microstrainers would be $635,000 next year, $275,000 in 1963; new filters, $580,000 in 1962 and $249,000 a year later. A .25,000,000-gallon-a-day high -lift Pump is slated for installation in 1962 at $28,000 along with a 12-inch feeder main on Hartrey avenue from Oakton street to Howard street.
