HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1963-031-O-63• • 31-0-63 3 0 0 AN ORDINANCE Amending Section 2-62 of the Evanston City Code to Permit the Letting of Contracts Without Ad- vertising for Bids if Authorized by Two-thirds of the Aldermen. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: Section 2-62 of the Code of the City of Evanston, Illinois, 1957, is amended to read as follows: "All contracts exceeding in amount the sum of one thousand dollars for supplies, work, material or necessaries relating to any of the matters under the control of the department of public works shall be let by the director of public works, with the ap- proval of the city manager and the city council, to the lowest reliable and responsible bidder after advertising for the same, and bonds, to be approved by the city council, may be taken for the faithful performance thereof, except that any such contract may be entered into by the proper officers without advertising for bids, if authorized by a vote of two-thirds of all the aldermen elected. This pro- vision shall not apply to contracts for work, material or supplies to be paid in whole or in part by special assessment." SECTION 2: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval according to law.
