HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1964-102-O-64ASi' 102-0-64 AN ORDINANCE • Amending the Evanston Zoning Ordinance, Adopted November 21, 1960, as amended WHEREAS, the City Council referred to the Zoning Amendment Committee for its consideration the matter of certain amendments to the Evanston Zoning Ordinance concerning certain property described as Lots 1 through 21 in A. Foster's Subdivision of Lots 1 to 5 and 18 to 28 in Block 1 of Hardin's Addition in the Northwest quarter of Section 19, Township 41 North, Range 14, East of the Third Principal Meridian in Cook County, Illinois, and more commonly described as the half block bounded by Crain Street, Greenleaf Street, Sherman Avenue, and the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad, which property is zoned as C2 Commercial District, with a proposal to rezone said property as R3 Resi- dential District classification; and WHEREAS, public hearing was held by the Evanston Zoning Amendment Committee on September 10, 1964 purusuant to notice and publication as required by law; and WHEREAS, the Zoning Amendment Committee rendered a report under date of September 18, 1964 recommending a change in zoning of said areas; and WHEREAS, in the opinion of the City Council the highest and best use of the properties would be to change said prop- erties from C2 Commercial District to R3 General Residence District; AS",5 and that said changes in the zoning would not adversely affect property adjacent thereto or in the immediate area; • NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS- SECTION la That the Zoning Ordi- nance of the City of Evanston, adopted November 219 1960, as amended, be further amended as follows: The following properties now classified as C2 Commercial District on the Official District Map of the Evanston Zoning Ordinance are here- by zoned R3 General Residence District. The regulations and restrictions applicable to R3 General Residence District and the penalties provided for in said Zoning Ordinance, adopted November 21, 1960, as amended, for a violation of any such regulations and restrictions, shall hereafter apply to the following properties: Lots 1 through 21 in A. Foster's Subdivision of Lots 1 to 5 and 18 to 28, Block 1 in Hardin's Addition in the Northwest quarter • of Section 19, Township 41 North, Range 14, East of the Third Principal Meridian in Cook County, Illinois. SECTION 2: The Official District Map of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Evanston, as amended, shall be further amended in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance. -2- 'R 40 • SECTION 3: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in con- flict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 4: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval, and publication in the manner provided by law.
