HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1964-152-O-64335 152-0-64 Amending the Evanston Zoning Ordinance, Adopted November 21, 1960, as Amended WHEREAS, the City Council referred to the Zoning Amend- ment Committee for its consideration the matter of certain amendments to the Evanston Zoning Ordinance concerning certain Property legally described as follows: That part of the Northwest quarter of the Northwest quarter of Section 25, Township 41 North, Range 13, East of the Third Principal Meridian, described as follows: beginning at the point of intersection of the South line of Oakton Street with a line drawn parallel to and 425 feet East of the West line of said Section 25 (said 425 feet being measured at right angles to said West line of said Section 25); thence South along said line 425 feet East of and parallel with the West lino of said Section 25, a distance of 150 feet; thence East along a line par- allel with the South line of Oakton Street a dis- tance of 650 feet; thence North along a line par- allel with the West line of said Section 25 a distance of 150 feet to the South line of Oakton Street; thence West along the South line of • Oakton Street, a distance of 650 feet to the point of beginning, in Cook County, Illinois, and more commonly described as the easterly 80 feet, more or less, of the property located on the south side of Oakton Street, immediately west of James Park, which property is presently zoned R2 Single Family Residence District, with a proposal to rezone said property as M2 General Manufacturing District class- ification; and WHEREAS, a public hearing was held by the Evanston Zoning Amendment Committee on November 19, 1964, pursuant to notice and publication as required by law; and 336 WHEREAS, the Zoning Amendment Committee rendered a report under date of December 1, 1964, recommending a change in zoning • of said area; and WHEREAS, in the opinion of the City Council, the highest and best use of the aforementioned property would be to change such zoning from R2 Single Family Residence District to M2 General Manufacturing District; and that said changes in the zoning would not adversely affect property adjacent thereto or in the immediate area: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That the following property, now classified as R2 Single Family Residence District on the Official District Map of the Evanston Zoning Ordinance, is hereby zoned M2 General • Manufacturing District. The regulations and restrictions appli- cable to M2 General Manufacturing District and the penalty pro- vided for in said Zoning Ordinance, adopted November 21, 1960, as amended, for violation of any such regulation and restriction shall hereafter apply to the following property: That part of the Northwest quarter of the Northwest quarter of Section 25, Township 41 North, Range 13, East of the Third Principal Meridian, described as follows: beginning at the point of intersection of the South line of Oakton Street with a line drawn parallel to and 425 feet East of the West line of said Section 25 (said 425 feet being measured at right angles to said West line of said Section 25); thence South along said line 425 feet East of and -2- -3S I parallel with the west line of said Section 25, a distance of 150 feet; thence East along a line par- allel with the South line of Oakton Street a dis- tance of 650 feet; thence North along a line par- allel with the West line of said Section 25 a distance of 150 feet to the South line of Oakton Street; thence West along the South line of Oakton Street, a distance of 650 feet to the point of beginning, in Cook County, Illinois. SECTION 2: The Official District Map of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Evanston, as amended, shall be further amended in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance. SECTION 3: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in con- flict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 4: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication in the • manner provided by law.
