HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1964-156-O-64Revised 12-28-64 Revised 1-4-65 156-0-64 AN ORDINANCE • Establishing the Salaries of Certain Elected Officials WHEREAS, a Regular Municipal Election shall be held April 6, 1965 for the purpose of electing a Mayor, City Clerk and City Treasurer; and WHEREAS, on said date certain Township officials for the Town of the City of Evanston will also be elected; and WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 2-45 of the Code of the City of Evanston, it is provided that the City Clerk shall act as Town Clerk of the Town of the City of Evanston, said offices being united in the same person; and WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 2-93% of the Code of the City of Evanston, it is provided that the City Treasurer shall act as Town Collector of the Town of the City of Evanston, • said offices being united in the same person; and WHEREAS, Sections 409 and 411 of Chapter 23 of the Illinois Revised Statutes, 1963, provide that the Township Supervisor shall serve as the ex-officio Supervisor of General Assistance, and said offices are united in the same person.in the Town of the City of Evanston; and WHEREAS, Section 130 of Chapter 139 of the Illinois Revised Statutes, 1963, provides that in towns such as the Town of the City of Evanston, all powers vested in such towns shall be exercised by the City Council 3413 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: • SECTION to That the compensation of the Mayor of the City of Evanston for the four year term, payable after election and qualification, shall be $3,600.00 per annum salary. SECTION 2: That the compensation of the City Clerk of the City of Evanston for the four year term, payable after elec- tion and qualification, shall be $10,500.00 per annum salary. Said salary shall be full compensation for the performance of all duties imposed by law, including duties as Town Clerk of the Town of the City of Evanston. All fees otherwise payable by law to the Town Clerk shall be paid directly to the treasury of the City of Evanston. SECTION 3: That the compensation • of the City Treasurer of the City of Evanston for the four year term, payable after election and qualification, shall be $8,000.00 per annum salary. Said salary shall be full compensation for the performance of all duties imposed by law, including duties as Town Collector of the Town of the City of Evanston. All commissions from tax collec- tions otherwise payable by law to the Town Collector shall be paid directly to the treasury of the City of Evanston. -2- SECTION 4: That the compensation of the Township Super- visor of the Town of the City of Evanston for the four year term, payable after election and qualification, shall be $600.00 per annum salary, and his compensation as Supervisor of General" Assistance shall be $1,200.00 per annum salary. SECTION 5: That the compensation of the Township Assessor of the Town of the City of Evanston for the four year term, payable after election and qualification, shall be $10,000.00 per annum salary. SECTION 6: All other ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 7: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect • from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law. INTRODUCED December 28 ADOPTED January 4 ATTEST: /s/ Maurice-F.
