AN ORDINANCE
Amending the Evanston Zoning
Ordinance, Adopted November 21,
1960
WHEREAS, the Zoning Amendment Committee of the City of
Evanston did meet on May 19, 1966 to consider amendments to
regulations imposed under the Evanston Zoning Ordinance so as
to rezone areas presently zoned in part C2 Commercial District,
and B2 and B3 Business Districts to B5 Business District and C�
certain other areas presently zoned B2 and B3 Business Districts,
C2 and C3 Commercial District, R7 General Residence District
and U3 University District to B4 Business District.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: That the Zoning Ordinance of the
City of Evanston, adopted Novem-

ber 21, 1960, as amended, be further amended as follows:
That the following hereinafter described area, now zoned
C2 Commercial District, B2 Business District and B3 Business

District, be and the same is hereby zoned B5 Business District.
The regulations and restrictions applicable to B5 Business
District and penalties provided for in said Zoning Ordinance,
adopted November 21, 1960, as amended, shall hereafter apply

to the following area:

Commencing at the point of intersection of the center
line of the Chicago and North Western Railroad and the
center line of Church Street, thence easterly along
said center line of Church Street to the point of
intersection of said center line and the center line
of Maple Avenue, thence northerly along said center
line of Maple Avenue to the center line of Clark
Street, thence easterly along said center line of Clark
Street and said center line extended to the center
line of Sherman Avenue, thence southerly along said
center line of Sherman Avenue to the center line of
the first alley south of Clark Street, thence easterly
along said center line of said alley to the center line
of the first alley west of Orrington Avenue, thence
southerly along said center line of said alley to the
center line of Church Street, thence easterly along
said center line of Church Street to the center line
of the first alley east of Orrington Avenue, thence
southerly along said center line of said alley to the
center line of Grove Street, thence westerly along
said center line of Grove Street to the center line
of the Chicago and North Western Railroad, thence north-
westerly along said center line of the Chicago and
North Western Railroad to the point of beginning.
• SECTION 2: That the Zoning Ordinance of
the City of Evanston, adopted
November 21, 1960, as amended, be further amended as follows:

a. Commencing at the point of intersection of the
center line of Church Street and the center line
of the first alley east of Orrington Avenue, thence
easterly along said center line of Church Street to
the center line of Chicago Avenue, thence southerly
along said center line of Chicago Avenue to the
center line of Grove Street, thence westerly -along
said center line of Grove Street to the center line
of the first alley east of Sherman Avenue, thence
northerly along said center line of said alley to
the point of beginning.
b. Commencing at the point of intersection of the center
line of the Chicago and North Western Railroad and the
center line of Grove Street, thence easterly along
said center line of Grove Street to the center line
of the first alley east of Sherman Avenue, thence
southerly along said center line of said alley to
the center line of Lake Street, thence westerly along
said center line of Lake Street to the center line of
the Chicago and North Western Railroad, thence north-
westerly along.said center line of the Chicago and
North Western Railroad to the point of beginning.
• c. Commencing at the point of intersection of the center
line of the Chicago and North Western Railroad and the
center line of Grove Street, thence westerly along said
center line of Grove Street to the center line of Elm-
wood Avenue, thence southerly along said center line
of Elmwood Avenue, to the center line of the first
alley south of Grove Street, thence westerly along
said center line of said alley and said center line
extended to the center line of Maple Avenue, thence
northerly along said center line of Maple Avenue to
the center line of the first alley north of Grove
Street, thence westerly along said center line of said
alley to the center line of Oak Avenue, thence north-
erly along said center line of Oak Avenue to the center
line of Clark Street, thence easterly along said center
line of Clark Street and said center line extended to
the center line of Maple Avenue, thence southerly along
said center line of Maple Avenue to the center line of
Church Street, thence westerly along said center line
of Church Street to the center line of the Chicago and
North Western Railroad, thence southeasterly along the
center line of the Chicago and North Western Railroad
to the point of beginning.

d. Commencing at the point of intersection of the center
line of Clark Street and the center line of Maple
Avenue, thence northerly along said center line of
Maple Avenue to the center line of University Place,
thence easterly along said center line of University
Place to the center line of Elgin Road, thence south-
easterly along said center line of Elgin Road to the
center line of Orrington Avenue, thence southerly
along said center line of Orrington Avenue to the center
line of Church Street, thence westerly along said center
line of Church Street to the center line of the first
alley west of Orrington Avenue, thence northerly along
said center line of said alley to the center line of
the first alley south of Clark Street, thence westerly
along said center line of said alley to the center line
of Sherman Avenue, thence northerly along said center
line of Sherman Avenue to the center line of Clark
Street, thence westerly along said center line of
Clark Street and said center line extended to the
point of beginning.
SECTION 3: The Official District Map of
the Zoning Ordinance of the
City of Evanston, as amended, shall be further amended in
accordance with the provisions of this ordinance.

SECTION 4: All Ordinances or parts of
ordinances in conflict herewith
SECTION 5: This ordinance shall be in full
force and effect from and after
