AN ORDINANCE
Amending Sections V and VI of the
Evanston Zoning Ordinance,Adopted
November 21, 1960.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1; That the following paragraphs, sub-
sections, and sections of the Evanston
Zoning Ordinance, adopted November 21, 1960, as amended, be fur-
ther amended so that the same shall hereafter be and read as
follows:
1. That Section VI, Subsection A, paragraph 1, Sub-
paragraph c, be amended so that the same shall hereafter be and
read as follows:
"c. The following home occupations are prohibited:
(1) any wholesale, jobbing, or retail business
unless it is conducted entirely by mail and/or
telephone and does not involve the receipt, sale,
shipment, delivery or storage of merchandise on
or from the premises, (2) any manufacturing
business, (3) any repair shop operating on or
from the premises, (4) a clinic or hospital,
(5) a barber shop or beauty parlor, (6) a

stable, animal hospital, dog kennel, or dove-
cote, (7) a restaurant, (8) any activity that
produces noxious matter or employs or produces
flammable matter, (9) any occupation which
employs persons not residing on the premises,
and (10) any occupation which involves the use
of any mechanical equipment other than what is
usual for purely domestic or hobby purposes,
or what is usual for a small business, profes-
sional or medical office."
2.. That Section VI, Subsection A, paragraph 1, be amended
by adding a new subparagraph d, which shall hereafter be and read
as follows:
"d. Any contracting or service business, including
but not limited to painting, decorating, land-
scaping, carpentry, plumbing, electrical or
plastering contractors, which operates from a
home and which meets the requirements of para-
graphs c., e. and f. of this section shall be
permitted subject to the following additional
requirements: (1) no employees, other than the
persons legally residing on the premises, shall
report to work at or near the premises, (2) not
more than one truck shall be parked on the prop-
erty and then only in an enclosed garage and in
accordance with all applicable regulations of
Section X of this ordinance, (3) no contracting
equipment or materials used in the home occupa-
tion shall be stored on the premises, except in
a truck used for transporting said equipment or
materials between jobs, and no loading or un-
loading shall be done on the premises."
3. That Section VI, Subsection A, paragraph 1, existing
subparagraph d, be changed to subparagraph e.
4. That Section VI, Subsection A, paragraph 1, existing
subparagraph e. be changed to subparagraph f.
5. That Section VI, Subsection B, paragraph 1, sub-
paragraph d. be amended so that the same shall hereafter be and
read as follows:

"d. Uses and buildings accessory to the above per-
0 mitted uses and located on the same lot as the
principla use."
6: That Section VI, Subsection B, paragraph 2, sub-
paragraph b, be amended so that the same shall hereafter be and
read as follows:
"b. Automobile parking .lots accessory to a per-
mitted use or a special use allowed in the
district."
7. That Section VI, Subsection B, paragraph 2, be amended
by adding new subparagraph d, which shall hereafter be and read
as follows:
"d. Christmas Tree Sales Lot."
8. That Section VI, Subsection B, paragraph 2, existing
subparagraph d. be changed and hereafter designated as subparagraph
e.
9. That Section VI, Subsection B, paragraph 2, existing
subparagraph e. be changed and hereafter designated as subparagraph
f.
10. That Section VI, Subsection B, paragraph 2, existing
subparagraph f. shall be redesignated as subparagraph g, which
shall be and hereafter read as follows:
"g. Schools, nursery, elementary and high --including
playgrounds and athletic fields incidental
thereto."
11. That Section VI, Subsection B, paragraph 2, existing
subparagraph g be changed and hereafter designated as sub-
paragraph h.

12. That Section VI, Subsection B, paragraph 20 existing
subparagraph h. be changed and hereafter designated as sub-
paragraph i.
13. That Section VI, Subsection D, paragraph 2i be amended
so that the same shall hereafter be and read as follows:
112. Special Uses
Special uses allowed in the R2 District."
SECTION 2: That all ordinances or parts of ordi-
nances in conflict with the provisions
of this ordinance -are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3: That this ordinance shall be in full
force and effect from and after its
passage, approval and publication in the manner provided by law.
