HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1967-027-O-67g0 Amended 10-23-67 27-0-67 AN ORDINANCE Amending the Evanston Zoning Ordinance, Adopted November 21, 1960, as amended. WHEREAS, the City Council referred to the Zoning Amendment Committee for its consideration, the matter of certain amendments to the Evanston Zoning Ordinance concerning the following property: Commencing at the point of the intersection of the center line of Ridge Avenue and the center line of Oakton Street, thence southerly along said line of Ridge Avenue to the center lireof Austin Street, thence westerly along said center line of Austin Street to the center line of Asbury Avenue, thence northerly along the said center line of Asbury Avenue to the center line of Oakton Street, except for the following • legally described property: Lots 112 to 116, inclusive, of Whyte and Bell's Construction Company's Resubdivision of the south 8 feet of Lot 1 and all of Lots 2 'to 31, inclusive, in Block 2, Lots 5 to 32, inclusive, in Block 3 in the west half of the northwest quarter of Section 30, Township 41 North, Range 14, East of the Third Principal Meridian, and commonly described as 433 and 443 Asbury Avenue and 1226 Oakton Street; thence continuing northerly along said center line of Asbury Avenue to the center line of the east -west alley between Madison Street and Monroe Street, thence easterly along said center line of said alley to the north -south alley west of Ridge Avenue, thence north- erly along said north -south alley west of Ridge Avenue to the center line of Madison Street, thence easterly along said center line of Madison Street to the center line of Ridge Avenue, thence southerly along said center line of Ridge Avenue to the said center line of Monroe Street, thence westerly along said center line of Monroe Street to the center line of the north -south alley west of Ridge Avenue, thence southerly along said north -south alley west of Ridge Avenue to the center line of Oakton Street, thence easterly along said center line of Oakton Street to the center line of Ridge Avenue, being the point of beginning. WHEREAS, a public hearing was held by the Evanston Zoning Amendment Committee on January 12, 1967, pursuant to notice and publication as required by law; and WHEREAS, the Evanston Zoning Amendment Committee rendered a report under date of February 3, 1967, recommending a change in zoning of the said area; and WHEREAS, in the opinion of the City Council, the highest and best use of the properties would be to change the zoning from R3 Two -Family Residence District to R2 Single -Family Residence District, and that said changes in the zoning would not adversely • affect property adjacent thereto or in the immediate area: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Evanston, adopted November 21, 1960, as amended, be further amended as follows: That the following described properties now classified as R3 Two -Family Residence District on the official District Map of the Evanston Zoning Ordinance are here- by zoned R2 Single -Family Residence District. The regulations and restrictions applicable to R2 Single - Family Residence District and the penalties provided for in said Zoning Ordinance, adopted November 21, 1960, as amended, for a violation of any such regulations and restrictions, shall hereafter apply to the following area: Commencing at the point of the intersection of the center line of Ridge Avenue and the center line of Oakton Street, thence southerly along said line of • - 2- 24l Ridge Avenue to the center line of Austin Street, thence westerly along said center line of Austin Street to a point located 180 feet west of the center line of Barton Avenue, thence northerly along said line located 180 feet west of the center line of Barton Avenue to the center line of Oakton Street, thence westerly along said center line of Oakton Street to the center line of Asbury Avenue, thence northerly along said center line of Asbury Avenue to the center line of the east -west alley between Madison Street and Monroe Street, thence easterly along said center line of Gard alley to the north -south alley west of Ridge Avenue, thonco northerly along said North -south alley west of Ridge Avenue to the center line of Madison Street, thence easterly along said center line of Madison Street to the center line of Ridge Avenue, thence southerly along said center line of Ridge Avenue to the said center line of Monroe Street, thence west- erly along said center line of Monroe Street to the center line of the north -south alley west of Ridge Avenue, thence southerly along said north -south alley west of Ridge Avenue to the center line of Oakton • Street, thence easterly along said center line of Oakton Street to the center line of Ridge Avenue, being the point of beginning. SECTION 2: The official District Map of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Evanston, as amended, shall be further amended in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance. SECTION 3: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. -3- • SECTION 4: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication in the manner provided by law.
