AN ORDINANCE
Creating the Ladd Arboretum.
Committee
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: That the Code of the City of Evanston,
1957, as amended, be further amended
by adding thereto Sections 2-185 through 2-187 to read as -follows:
"Article X. Ladd Arboretum Committee.
"Sec. 2-185. Creation and Appointment.
"There is hereby created the Ladd Arboretum Committee
for the City of Evanston. This Committee shall consist
of nine members, all of whom, except the Parks and
Recreation Superintendent who shall be a member by
virtue of his office, shall be appointed by the Mayor
with the advice and consent of the City Council. The
membership of this Committee shall include one member
from the board or staff of each school district serving
the City of Evanston, one member representing the
Evanston Garden Council,.one alderman, the Parks and
Recreation -Superintendent, and four other members at
large.
"Sec. 2-186. Terms of Office.
"All members of the Committee shall serve for three-
year terms or until their successors are appointed
and qualified, provided, however, that two members
shall be initially appointed for a one-year term;
three members shall be initially appointed for a two-
year term, and three members shall be initially
appointed for a three-year term.

"Sec. 2-187. Powers and duties of the Committee.
"The Ladd Arboretum Committee shall have the following
powers and duties:
a. to advise and consult with the City Council
and the Parks and Recreation Superintendent
on development and maintenance of the Ladd
Arboretum, and on plans.for new sections and
features of the Arboretum;
b. to raise funds and seek gifts for the develop-
ment and maintenance of the Ladd Arboretum,
and to seek sponsors for the remaining sections
to be developed;
c. to approve disbursements of moneys raised by
the Committee for the Ladd Arboretum;
d. to publicize the Ladd Arboretum and its attrac-
tions and to promote its use by adults, school
children, and community groups; and
e. to take other appropriate actions relating to
the development, maintenance, promotion, and
use of the Ladd Arboretum."

in conflict herewith are hereby re-
