AN ORDINANCE
Amending the Evanston Zoning
Ordinance, Adopted November
21, 1960, as amended.
WHEREAS, the City Council referred to the Zoning Amendment
Committee for its consideration, the matter of certain amendments
to the Evanston Zoning Ordinance concerning the following property:
Lot 42 and the North 12.5 feet of Lot 41 of Block 1
of A. Foster Subdivision of Lots 1 to 5 and 18 to
28 inclusive of Hardin's Addition to Evanston, a
subdivision of the South one-half of the Northeast
one-fourth of the Northwest one-fourth of Section
19, Township 41 North, Range 14, East of the Third
Principal Meridian, in Cook County, Illinois; and
commonly known as 1140-1146 Sherman Avenue; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing was held by the Evanston.Zoning
Amendment Committee on November 17, 1966 pursuant to notice and
publication as required by law; and
WHEREAS, the Evanston Zoning Amendment Committee rendered
a report under date of December 2, 1966, recommending a change
in zoning of the said area; and
WHEREAS, in the opinion of the City Council, the highest
and best use of the properties would be to change the present
zoning to R3 Two -Family Residence District, and that said changes
in the zoning would not adversely affect property adjacent thereto
or in the immediate area:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:

SECTION 1: That the Zoning Ordinance of the
City of Evanston, adopted November
219 1960, as amended, be further amended as follows:
That the following described properties now classified
as C2 Commercial District on the official District
Map of the Evanston Zoning Ordinance are hereby
zoned R3 Two -Family Residence District. The regu-
lations and restrictions applicable to R3 Two -Family
Residence District and the penalties provided for
in said Zoning Ordinance, adopted November 21, 1960,
as amended, for a violation of any such regulations
and restrictions, shall hereafter apply to the fol-
lowing area:
Lot 42 and the North 12.5 feet of Lot 41 of Block 1
of A. Foster Subdivision of Lots 1 to 5 and 18 to
28 inclusive of Hardin's Addition to Evanston, a
subdivision of the South one-half of the Northeast
one-four-th of the Northwest one-fourth of Section 19,
Township 41 North, Range 14, East of the Third
Principal Meridian, in Cook County, Illinois, and
commonly known as 1140-1146 Sherman Avenue.
SECTION 2: The Official District Map of the
Zoning Ordinance of the City of
Evanston, as amended, shall be further amended in accordance with
the provisions of this ordinance.
