HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1968-054-O-68000 0 Revised 5-27-68 AN ORDINANCE Granting the Appeal of the City of Evanston and First National Building Corporation for a Variation from the Off -Street Parking Regulations of the Evanston Zoning Ordinance, Adopted November 21, 1960. WHEREAS, the Zoning Board of Appeals of the City of Evanston held a public hearing on April 16, 1968 on the appeal of the City of Evanston and the First National Building Corpora- tion for a variation from the off-street parking regulations of the zoning ordinance to permit the construction of a drive-in banking facility and banking space; and • WHEREAS, the Zoning Board of Appeals found that if the variation is granted the essential character of the locality, being a B5 Business District, will not be substantially altered in character; and WHEREAS, the property in question cannot yield a reason- able return to the owner due to the unique circumstances that a proposed drive-in banking facility, which is designed to eliminate customer parking will in fact take the space necessary for customer parking as required by the zoning ordinance of the City of Evans- ton; and WHEREAS, the Zoning Board of Appeals of the City of Evanston has determined that the proposed variation will not impair an adequate supply of light and air to adjacent property Ops • or substantially increase the danger of fire or otherwise endanger the public safety or appreciably diminish or impair property values within the area; and WHEREAS, the Zoning Board of Appeals of the City of Evanston has determined that the granting of the variation will not be detrimental to the public welfare or injurious to or depreciate the value of other property or improvements in the neighborhood in which the property is located; and WHEREAS, the Zoning Board of Appeals of the City of Evanston found that the physical surroundings of the specific property involved brings a particular hardship upon the owner • as the said petitioner bank does not own the building which stands between the bank and the property to the south, which property is owned by the City of Evanston, but that an exchange is con- templated between itself and the City of Evanston: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That a variation from the Evanston Zoning Ordinance, adopted November 21, 1960, so far as said regulations pertain to the property located at 800- 816 Davis Street in the City of Evanston, and legally described as - Lots 1 through 6 in P. Judson's Subdivision of Lot 1 in Block 64, and Lots 2 and 3 in Block 64, all in the Village of Evanston, in Section 13, Township 41 North, Range 13, Township 41 North, Range 13, and 7, 18, and 19, Township 41 North, Range 14, East of the Third • Principal Meridian in Cook County, Illinois, - 2- oos is hereby granted, permitted and made so as to permit the First National Building Corporation a variation from the off-street parking regulations of the zoning ordinance to permit construc- tion of a drive-in banking facility and banking space on the property located at 800-816 Davis Street. SECTION 2: That the Director of Building is hereby ordered and directed to grant such permits as shall be required to effectuate the recom- mendations of the Zoning Board of Appeals. SECTION 3: That this ordinance shall be in • full force and effect from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
