HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1968-071-O-6805 y' 71-0-68 AN ORDINANCE Amending the Evanston Zoning Ordinance, Adopted November 21, 1960, as amended. WHEREAS, the City Council referred to the Zoning Amendment Committee for its consideration, the matter of certain amendments to the Evanston Zoning Ordinance concerning the following property: The properties bounded by Livingston Street on the north, Broadway Avenue on the east and Poplar Avenue (East Railroad Avenue) on the Southwest with the exception of Lots 11, 12 and 13 in Block 33 of C. L. Jenks Resubdivision of Blocks 27, 28, 32, 33 and 37 in North Evanston, a subdivision of Lots 11 through 16 in the west 4.3 acres of Lot 17 in George Smith's Subdivision (excepting the north 240 acres) of the south part of the Archang's • Ouilmette Reservation in the east half of the southeast quarter of Section 34, Township 42 North, Range 13, East of the Third Principal Meridian, in Cook County, Illinois, and commonly known as 1826-1912 Livingston Street (even numbers), 2636-2656 Broadway Avenue (even numbers), and 2615-2651 Poplar Avenue (odd numbers); and WHEREAS, a public hear ng was held by the Evanston Zoning Amendment Committee on December 7, 1968, pursuant to notice and publication as required by law; and WHEREAS, the Evanston Zoning Amendment Committee rendered a report recommending a change in zoning of the said area; and WHEREAS, in the opinion of the City Council, the highest and best use of the properties would be to change the present 052 • R5 General Residence District to R3 Two -Family Residence District for the properties commonly known as 1826-1912 Livingston Street (even numbers), 2636-2656 Broadway Avenue (even numbers) and 2615-2651 Poplar Avenue (odd numbers), and that said changes in the zoning would not adversely affect property adjacent thereto or in the immediate area: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Evanston, adopted November 21, 19600 as amended, be further amended as follows: That the following described properties now classi- fied as R5 General Residence District on the official District. Map of the Evanston Zoning Ordinance are • hereby zoned R3 Two -Family Residence District. The regulations and restrictions applicable to R3 Two - Family Residence District and the penalties provided for in said Zoning Ordinance, adopted November 21, 1960, as amended, for a violation of any such regu- lations and restrictions, shall hereafter apply to the following area: The properties bounded by Livingston Street on the north, Broadway Avenue on the east and Poplar Avenue (East Railroad Avenue) on the southwest with the exception of Lots 11, 12 and 13 in Block 33 of C. L. Jenks Resubdivision of Blocks 27, 28, 32, 33 and 37 in North Evanston, a subdivision of Lots 11 through 16 in the west 4.3 acres of Lot 17 in George Smith's Subdivision (excepting the north 240 acres) of the south part of the Archang's Ouilmette Reservation in the east half of the southeast quarter of Section 34, Township 42 North, Range 13, East of the Third Principal Meridian, in Cook County, Illinois, and :wz 0 053 • commonly known as 1826-1912 Livingston Street (even numbers), 2636-2656 Broadway Avenue (even numbers, and 2615-2651 Poplar Avenue (odd numbers). SECTION 2: The official District Map of the Zoning Zoning Ordinance of the City of Evanston, as amended, shall be further amended in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance. SECTION 3: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 4: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication in the manner provided by law.
